Your ECU is effectively one of your vehicle's onboard computers. Engine-management software controls parameters associated with fuel injection, ignition timing, turbo boost, air/fuel mixture, torque delivery and throttle response.
What remapping changes
ECU remapping involves modifying the software calibration to alter how the engine operates. On many modern vehicles this can be carried out electronically through the vehicle's diagnostic connection.
What it doesn't involve
Remapping doesn't change the physical engine hardware. It changes how the existing hardware is controlled.
DB Autos can explain what remapping could realistically achieve on your vehicle. Call 01782 844320.
